This guide builds up awareness of gender-sensitive education statistics and indicators to effectively monitor gender disparities in education.
This is part of training materials intended to promote and facilitate the building of gender perspectives in national statistical monitoring. It was originally prepared for sub-regional workshops on issues such as education statistics and indicators held in Accra, Ghana in October 1996 and in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire in April 1997. The original draft version has been enriched to take into account positive experience and feedback gathered during these two meetings which brought together 30 statisticians from 25 countries.
